ComedySportz Classes and Workshops ComedySportz skills translate very well to the business world and our teams do terrific team-building and skills workshops at a reasonable price. Most ComedySportz teams also offer beginner and intermediate workshops. Workshops are how we find most new CSz talent, too. (Some teams hold auditions; contact your local team for details.) Corporate Workshops Many beginning students of improvisation have no interest in performing for audiences. Many only seek to improve their communication skills. Improvisation students also note that what they learn in improvisation class directly improves their workplace skills. ComedySportz workshops incorporate voice training, body language, and portrayal of a problem or goal. Employees who have improvisational skills garner more consideration for their point of view during meetings and discussions. Another advantage of ComedySportz above other creative exercises is that it requires the development of teamwork skills. ComedySportz players create scenes together, and must work as a team to finish the scene. If a player makes a mistake, the others must try to justify what the player did to make it look intentional. The players of ComedySportz must consider and incorporate the suggestions of other players, a priceless talent in corporate teamwork. Contact the nearest team, or info@comedysportz.com. We'll design a workshop or series that fits your organization's needs and delights your people. If you aren't near anyone, contact Patrick Short at the World Comedy League and we'll set you up - 503.236.8888 or e-mail. Level I Workshops Level I workshops cover the basics of improv the ComedySportz way: Team-building, trust, speed, endowment, status, mime, basic scene-building, accepting, and conquering fears. Participants learn and play a wide variety of improv activities and games. Sources for our games include Viola Spolin and Keith Johnstone. Level II Workshops For people who have completed our Level I workshops, Level II workshops focus on learning the CSz games and on building improv skills. Many cities have performance opportunities for Level II participants. Some cities even have Level III workshops. High School Leagues Some ComedySportz Cities have High School Leagues, including workshops and inter-school competitions. Costs are low and the paybacks are very high! Please check with your city to find out about HS Leagues. Auditions Some clubs fill their roster with auditions, others have a minor league system fed by workshops. Check with the city nearest you.
