The 1997 Comedy League of America National Tournament

165 Players from 23 Teams Gather in the Quad Cities (Rock Island, IL)
August 4-9, 1997

The hometown Quad Cities ComedySportz Club defeated Team New York on Saturday, August 9th, to win the 1997 Comedy League of America National Championship, before a crowd of 500+ at Circa '21 in Rock Island, Illinois. In the Championship, which followed 20 CSz matches pitting city against city, Team New York built an early lead with great scenework, but the scrappy and underrated Quad Cities team stayed close, finally pushing ahead with a completely non-verbal Changing Emotions game that rocked the rafters of the 1921 vintage house.

Prior to the Championship, the West All Stars, coached by San Jose's Jeff "The Winner Within" Kramer, narrowly defeated the Jamie "Bubba" Manley's East All Stars in the first 10 on 10 ComedySportz match ever held at a ComedySportz National Tournament.

Huge and enthusiastic crowds were the rule as Quad Cities Manager Jeff Adamson and his tremendous crew provided superb accomodations, workshops, entertainment and terrific shows in three local spaces. Tournament 1998 will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but we WILL BE BACK to the Quad Cities soon! Thank you Quad Cities' CSz!
